Our project portfolio includes staff housing and relocation projects for mining clients, numerous mass housing projects ranging from 6000 RDP houses in Mamelodi (Pretoria) to 2000 scattered houses in various villages outside Hartswater (Northern Cape).
Our projects for government have included the Centurion Aerospace Village for the Department of Trade & Industry and the Emzinoni Hostels for the Govan Mbeki Municipality. Other completed projects include police stations, schools, university residences, and many more.
Rural school constructed for the Department of Basic Education
The Stefanutti Stocks Building Division constructed the Phoelela Special Needs School in Bulwer for the Department of Basic Education. The project included the construction of a school, pupil residence and teachers’ accommodation, as well as a sewer treatment plant and elevated water tank. A project similar to this school construction the Machadadorp School, which also has boarding facilities.
This is the fourth school the division has built for this client with previous projects being the Ntsu Secondary School in Bethlehem, Phephetso Secondary School in Kroonstad, and Lehutso Primary School in Sasolburg.

Social Housing project completed for Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO)
The Stefanutti Stocks Building Division constructed a social housing project in Turffontein for the Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO). The development is situated in a residential area in Johannesburg South and consists of a total of 528 one- and two-bedroom units, spread across fourteen three- and four-storey buildings.

Flamwood Social Housing Development constructed for Instratin Property Developments
The Flamwood Social Housing Development, located in Klerksdorp, was the North West Province’s first Community Residential Unit (CRU) Development. The project was constructed by Stefanutti Stocks Building for Instratin Property Developments.
The Flamwood development consists of 50 three-storey buildings which make up 25 blocks. Across these are a total of 1 168 residential units including bachelor units, all the way through to three-bedroom units. The residential development also includes an administration building as well as a small commercial area consisting of three small shops and a crèche for the use of the residents. Stefanutti Stocks’ contract includes all external access roads, as well as the construction of a new bridge, and the upgrading of a three- kilometer stretch of existing sewer lines, in order to accommodate the new development.

Stefanutti Stocks builds Westgate Housing Development in KZN
The Westgate Aloe Ridge housing development in Pietermaritzburg was undertaken for Capital City Housing and entailed the construction of 952 residential units in 100 three-storey face-brick blocks that are cut into a ridge. The 40 000m2 development received the prestigious Govan Mbeki Award for Best Social Housing Project. The social housing project has been constructed to provide low income groups residing in the Pietermaritzburg area with access to rental units.

Metsimaholo Community Residential Units constructed for Free State government
Stefanutti Stocks undertook a community residential development contract in the township of Zamdela, Sasolburg. The Metsimaholo Community Residential Units (CRUs) project was undertaken for the Free State Provincial Government’s Human Settlements department. It entailed the construction of 398 double-storey CRUs, ranging from one- to three-bedroom units, all with high quality finishes.
Stefanutti Stocks received the award for the best CRU Contractor in the Free State for 2014/2015 for this project.
*CRUs, or Community Residential Units are rental stock whereas RDP housing, or Reconstruction and Development Programme housing, are given to citizens as part of a government subsidy. In both cases residents must pay for services.

Hector Pieterson University Residence for University of Johannesburg (UJ)
Stefanutti Stocks Building undertook the construction of the Hector Pieterson university residence for UJ. The residence consists of 13 double-storey buildings with a total of 314 furnished single rooms. Each floor has its own communal kitchen and bathroom. Other communal areas include a multipurpose hall with warden’s quarters, an IT room, laundry, coffee bar and kitchen.
The project scope of works included residence infrastructure encompassing a new road, parking areas, landscaping and a water storage facility, refuse areas and workers rooms.

Exxaro Eco-housing project
Stefanutti Stocks Building constructed seven major housing contracts for Exxaro’s Lephalale eco-housing project. The mixed housing model project accommodates over 1 100 mine employees and families. All homes were built to comply with stringent green standards and include renewable energy sources and water conservation technology.
The Exxaro housing project was the runner-up in the Sustainability Category of the 2010 Nedbank Capital Green Mining Awards.
The project included the construction of:
- 78 homes (between 120m2 – 220m2);
- 78 homes (120m2);
- 168 flats; and
- 8 luxury homes for mining managers.

Housing and infrastructure in Tete, Mozambique
Stefanutti Stocks Building, in joint venture with Stefanutti Stocks Construcoes Moc Lda, constructed fifty houses and the associated infrastructure relating to sewer reticulation, a sewer treatment plant, complete water and electrical reticulation and the surrounding roads. The project was undertaken for client Vale Dos Embondeiros Lda.
